Discovery Chemistry
Discovery Chemistry covers two research areas: medicinal chemistry and phytochemistry.
Medicinal chemistry focuses on rational design for validated therapeutic targets, and chemical modifications of leads generated from phytochemistry. Modern synthetic organic chemistry, including advanced purification and spectroscopic technology, is applied to efficiently carry out structure-activity relationship studies.
Phytochemistry involves selectively preparing samples from natural sources, identifying and characterizing the active components as the leads for further optimization.
Discovery Biology
Discovery Biology focuses on two therapeutic areas: autoimmune diseases and cancer. The established cutting-edge screening platforms are the driving force behind new drug discovery and especially for medicinal chemists to learn structure and activity relationship (SAR) of a compound. The discovery research is focused on pathway-specific and single/multiple target-based screening platforms against molecular targets in the pathogenesis of inflammation/autoimmune diseases and cancer.
• Assay development and validation
• Compound Screening
• MOA (mechanism of action) studies
• Translational research
Discovery Pharmacology
Discovery Pharmacology covers preclinical efficacy evaluations and related in vivo MOA study. Discovery Pharmacology focuses on three therapeutic areas: oncology, inflammation and metabolic diseases.
• Support different projects by doing in vivo studies, including in vivo target inhibition (IVTI), PK, PK/PD, and in vivo efficacy (IVEF)
• New animal disease model development
• In vivo MOA studies
• Biomarker studies
• Animal care including IACUC operating activity
Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK)
Fully integrated into our drug discovery programs, DMPK plays a critical role in drug discovery and development. DMPK provides full in vitro DMPK studies, including metabolic stability using liver microsomes or hepatocytes, CYP inhibition and/or induction, metabolic reaction phenotyping, in vitro absorption, protein binding, metabolite identification and in vivo pharmacokinetic evaluations in various animal species.
