Hutchison MediPharma has entered into drug discovery and development agreements with Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Merck KGaA and Procter & Gamble. In particular, the partnership between Hutchison MediPharma and Johnson & Johnson marks the largest ever in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry, with upfront and milestone payments of up to $100 million.

Those partnerships validate Hutchison MediPharma's business model and quality of its drug discovery and development. Hutchison MediPharma's collaboration with large pharmaceutical companies represents a new model of innovative drug discovery & development partnerships for the Chinese pharmaceutical R&D industry. This kind of risk/reward and IP sharing model could quickly advance China’s new drug R&D capability to global level.

In addition, Hutchison MediPharma has formed research and strategic collaborations with renowned univerisities and institutes worldwide like the University of California at Los Angeles, the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, the Genetic and Cell Biology Institute of North-Eastern Normal University, Hong Kong Chinese University, the University of Maryland and Cambridge University... We expect these partnerships to provide Hutchison MediPharma with novel drug targets, assays, compound libraries and clinical expertise to further enhance Hutchison MediPharma's research portfolio. Hutchison MediPharma will continue to investigate and discuss other potential alliances with appropriate organizations.
